On August 3, 2024, our XpArt event proved to be a tremendous success, attracting a vibrant crowd of over 100 local and international attendees. Held at the Naivasha Sports Club, the venue buzzed with energy as we welcomed an impressive array of exhibitors, including Montessori for Kenya, Gian Care Centre, and Asante Children’s Homes. Their presence significantly enriched the event.
Event Highlights
The core mission of the event was to support our newly launched flagship initiative, The Bus Scholarship Fund. This vital project aims to provide vocational training scholarships to young adults transitioning from children’s homes into society. Many of these young people face barriers to university education, and our initiative seeks to bridge that gap by offering practical skills training. Since its inception in April 2022, the XpArt event had been an exclusive gathering for children’s homes. However, on August 3, 2024, we marked a milestone by opening our doors to the broader public, setting a precedent for future events. The event featured an exciting range of activities designed to highlight and cultivate the talents of our young participants. Children engaged in various artistic endeavors, including painting vibrant canvases, performing dynamic dance routines, crafting intricate crochet pieces, molding unique pottery items, and creating whimsical caricatures. Their creativity and enthusiasm were truly inspiring.
Adults also found the event to be a rich source of personal discovery and artistic expression. Many participants indulged in art as a form of self-therapy, uncovering hidden talents and enjoying the therapeutic benefits of creative engagement.
Acknowledgements
We extend our sincere gratitude to our generous sponsors, who made the event possible: Naivasha Sports Club, Naivasha Horticultural Fair, Stega Security, and the Rotaract Club Naivasha. Their support played a crucial role in the event’s success.
Financial Summary
Financially, the event achieved notable results. We raised Ksh 26,400 through direct bank transfers and cash donations, complemented by Ksh 10,100 from pre-event tickets sale. This brought our total fundraising to Ksh 36,500, a significant contribution to our scholarship fund.
