Board

The Art for Children Foundation comprises of two boards: Advisory Board and Board of Directors.

The Advisory Board was established on 31st October 2020, in Naivasha. It comprises highly skilled and experienced professionals from various fields in the industry. It is tasked with providing oversight and professional advice, regarding industry best practise, to our Board of Directors. The Advisory Board is the think-tank of the organisation.

The Board of Directors at Art for Children Foundation currently comprises of six (5) members, i.e. The Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, and three (2) other board members. It is tasked with providing oversight and governance of the foundation. The Board, represented by all five (5) of its directors, act as the signatory of the foundation to the NGOs Coordination Board.

Stella Mutuku

Stella Mutuku

Member - Advisory Board

Ms. Stella Mutuku is an economist and a public policy Analyst. She brings over 5 years of diverse career experience with strong expertise and passion to building inclusive public policies that yield sustainable social impact.

She has worked with various international and national organizations such as IDInsight, Netherlands Development organization (SNV), Kenya Climate Innovation Centre, and Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA). She is also a co-founder and strategy director at 254 Youth Policy Cafe, a youth network that creates awareness and advocates the inclusion of youths in public policy making process.

Ms. Stella Mutuku holds a Masters Degree in Economics from Kyungpook National University, South Korea, and a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Finance from Kenyatta University, Kenya.

She is passionate about working with communities to create innovative solutions that make positive impacts to our societies.

Anthony Mwaura

Anthony Waithera

Member - Board of Directors

Mr. Anthony works at the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) as a Policy Analyst since May 2018 and is charged with research, policy advocacy and planning on matters investment and regional integration. He has excelled in Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Performance Contracting as well as Resource Mobilization. Most notable is his contribution in the development of Kenya Investment Policy (KIP) and the County Investment Handbook.

He has actively spearheaded country specific initiatives such as the Global Competitiveness Index under the World Economic Forum, the Regional Integration Implementation Program under the National Treasury, as well as the Ease of doing business report under IFC-World Bank.

Mr. Anthony has over 6 years of technical research and planning expertise having previously worked at the National Treasury’s Intergovernmental Fiscal Relations Department (IGFR-D) where he was mainly involved in county budget analysis, policy analysis and research.

He has also previously worked as a Project Director at Compassion International – a Christian Child Welfare Non-Governmental Organization where he successfully initiated one of the most successful projects to date being the Ngong KE-262 project. His main duties were project management, quality assurance as well as monitoring and evaluation of donor funds. 

Mr. Anthony has also worked at M.N Kamau & Company Advocates as as paralegal and is currently an adjunct lecturer at the Kisii University – Nairobi town campus.

Mr. Anthony has a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi (UoN), a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Statistics from South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) and has a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-1) qualification from KASNEB.

Mr. Anthony has professional certifications in Budget Planning, Forecasting and Analysis (KESRA), Alcohol and Drug Abuse Workplace Based Prevention Interventions (NACADA) as well as peer counselling (SEKU).

Mr. Anthony is not only an established Economist but also has a heart for the children and the most vulnerable in the society. He brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to the board alongside his kind personality.

Banice Kamau

Member - Advisory Board

Ms. Banice is a Political Analyst with over 5 years working with both local and international NGOs in regards to advocacy in children’s rights, protection, and education.
She has worked as a field officer, research and data assistant as well as a volunteer social worker. She has worked with Kenya RedCross, Madison Insurance, and Star Optics. She has also worked with K-NOTE, under Children Lead the Way project (CLTW), funded by Save the Children International, fhi360, and APHIAplus program.
She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International Relations at the University of Nairobi. She has a post-graduate diploma in Project Management from Kenya Institute of Management studies (KIM) and Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences major in Political Science, with a minor in Social Administration.
She is passionate about working with children and youths in society.

Kenneth Kamau

Chairperson - Board of Directors

Mr. Kenneth is a certified Sustainability Leader, United People Global (UPG) class of 2021. He holds a Bachelors of Science (Honours) Degree in Business Information Technology, from the University of Greenwich, United Kingdom. He also holds Levels 4 and 5 Diplomas in Computer Studies, from NCC Education, United Kingdom.

Mr. Kenneth has over 10 years of experience in Software Development, Database Engineering,  ICT Consultancy, and Social Media Management. He has worked for public, private, and no-profit sectors, both nationally and internationally. This includes the The National Treasury and Planning, The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), Research Solutions Network (RSN), GoldStar Kenya (GSK), Kenya Civil Society Platform for Oil and Gas (KCSPOG), 254 Youth Policy Café, among others.

During his service in the public sector, Kenneth has received in-house trainings and hands-on-experience on: CCTV installation, PABX, Microsoft Office Business Suite, Survey Systems and Applications, Navision, Risk Management, Social Media Management, Personal Security, Emergency Plan and Disaster Management, among others.

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Kenneth volunteered in various successful medical crowdfunding committees for patients that helped raise over Kshs. 16.4 Million ($152,232). This helped save the patients’ lives, who underwent major surgeries and theatre rounds, received necessary medical access, and recovered to a point of being discharged from the hospital.

He is also a multi-talented musician, artist, poet, and writer. He holds the Outstanding Musician of the Year – 2019, Naivasha Six Stars Gala Awards.

His leadership has seen the Art for Children Foundation win the best NGO of the year 2022 from the same awards, and also nominated for the same category in 2024 awards.

Gayatri Naker

Treasurer - Board of Directors

Gayatri Naker is a passionate and community-driven professional who brings her expertise in financial planning and strategic decision-making to her role as Treasurer on the Board of the Art for Children Foundation. With a strong commitment to transparency and accountability, she strives to uphold the foundation’s mission while fostering impactful initiatives that benefit the community.

Beyond her board role, Gayatri has professional experience as a travel consultant at Crater Travel Agencies Ltd., where she has demonstrated exceptional organizational and customer service skills. Her responsibilities have included creating detailed travel itineraries, managing travel logistics, and ensuring client satisfaction. Her work highlights her ability to operate efficiently within deadlines and build long-term relationships through excellent communication and problem-solving.

Gayatri is also academically driven, currently pursuing Diploma in Banking and Finance at Mount Kenya University, complemented by a Certificate in Business Management. She has also undertaken specialized training in Amadeus and Travelport Galileo, showcasing her adaptability to diverse fields.

Known for her strong work ethic, teamwork, and time management skills, Gayatri excels in dynamic and innovative environments. Fluent in English, Swahili, Gujarati, and Hindi, she is adept at connecting with individuals across cultures.

Gayatri’s dedication to integrity, financial stewardship, and community empowerment makes her a valuable contributor to the Art for Children Foundation’s goals and initiatives.

Mr. John Kihonge is a sound engineer with over six (6) years experience in his field. He has produced songs for various artists from and outside Kenya.

He is also a pioneer of the foundation.

Jerrlynn Kariuki

Member - Board of Directors

Jerrylynn Kariuki is a dedicated communications specialist passionate about advocacy, social justice, and development. Her commitment to these causes is driven by personal experiences and a deep understanding of the challenges posed by inequalities, including those related to disabilities and gender discrimination.

She holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies with a focus on Gender from SOAS University of London, where she was a Commonwealth Shared Scholar, and a B.A. (Hons) in Global Challenges, focusing on gender, education, and governance.

Jerrylynn’s career spans various sectors, including education, advocacy, business, fintech, and art. She has worked as a communications and advocacy intern at the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre, a communications associate at KomezArt, a non-legal intern at Bowmans Law Firm and a marketing intern at ALU School of Business.

Currently, she is a national volunteer with VSO (Voluntary Services Overseas), serving as an Advocacy and Communications Advisor for the Make Way project. This initiative aims to remove barriers to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) through intersectional advocacy.

Jerrylynn’s expertise in communication, research, and strategy drives her efforts to promote social change and empower communities. Her skills in communication, research, and strategy, combined with her dedication to gender equality and social justice, empower her to drive positive social change and advocate for the betterment of individuals and communities.

Ruphas Chege

Ruphas Njeri

Member - Board of Directors

Mr. Ruphas Njeri is a trained primary school teacher. He holds a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (P1) from Presbyterian Teachers College – Rubate, in Chuka – Meru.

He is also a talented Pop/RnB singer, dancer and a pioneer of the foundation.
