On first Saturday of September 2024, beneficiaries of the Bus Scholarship Fund concluded a transformative one-week training program designed to prepare them for their upcoming vocational journeys. Held at the Art for Children Foundation’s offices, with its grand finale at The Children’s Village Trust, the training brought together young professionals, community leaders, and members of the Rotaract Club of Naivasha to impart crucial skills and knowledge.

Mr. Timothy Mbiga, the immediate past President of Rotaract Club of Naivasha and Director at Gachahi Ventures Limited, trains the Bus Scholarship Beneficiaries on Communication and Entrepreneural Skills.

The training, which ran from Monday 2nd September 2024 to Saturday 7th September 2024, featured a diverse range of topics, including communication, leadership, unity, collaboration, volunteerism, and climate change. Local young professionals and peers from Nairobi led the sessions, sharing their expertise and providing real-world insights. The involvement of community leaders, particularly from the Rotaract Club of Naivasha, enriched the program with valuable mentorship and guidance.

A special thank you goes to the Rotaract Club of Naivasha for their generous loan of board games used during daily breaks. These games, including cards, chess and UNO, not only provided relaxation but also encouraged strategic thinking and teamwork among the beneficiaries. The club’s continuous support and collaboration with the Art for Children Foundation have been instrumental, and we deeply appreciate their ongoing commitment as a close ally.

The week’s activities culminated in a vibrant session at The Children’s Village Trust, where beneficiaries engaged with high schoolers and young adults from the home. This final day featured discussions on mental health, substance abuse, the Constitution of Kenya, and intimate relationships, all led by inspiring female trainers. It was a day of empowerment and reflection, reinforcing the lessons learned throughout the week.

As the training concludes, we wish all our beneficiaries the best as they embark on their vocational training journeys. We are confident that the skills and knowledge gained will serve them well and lead them to success in their chosen fields.
